Blind Summit is a charity

...that aims to keep the art form of puppetry alive by making ground breaking, new work with puppets, for adult audiences.

Our work is based on lengthy research periods.

We have a space in North London where we have an office, a workshop and a research space where we develop, design and make our puppets.

We provide a space for a select group of elite group of artists to meet and nurture our knowledge and skills.

We are led by master puppeteer Mark Down, inspired by the puppet making and ideas of Nick Barnes.

Anyone can apply to work with us - the main attributes we look for are enthusiasm and daring.

Everyone gets involved in all aspects of the process: making, thinking, struggling, practising and performing.

Our work is inspired by Japanese Bunraku puppetry where three visible puppeteers work together to bring a puppet alive.

Our work develops from the relationship between the puppet and the puppeteer.

Our work develops from a collaboration of design and performance to make a theatrical conceit which sits somewhere between a stage trick and a star role.

We find good puppetry to be rare and difficult to make.

We believe that excellent work speaks for itself.

We accept no limits on puppetry.
